Academy Trips, Evangelism, and Outreach Activities

Events organized by the Lighthouse Christian Academy, including local outreach, and international evangelism; trips to Bible conferences, men’s rally’s, and women’s retreats; school ski trips, rafting excursions, or other camping related adventures; fellowship at sporting events and other extra-curricular functions, are an integral part of the Academy’s curriculum.
Outside of the four walls of the school and the traditional education experience, students often build and strengthen their relationship with Jesus through fellowship with other students, teachers and chaperones. These occasions build strong ties between teachers and students that facilitate the impartation of wisdom and knowledge both inside and outside the classroom.

Thirty One  Students and Chaperones returned March 17th from a successful ground breaking Historical Tour of the East Coast.  Cities toured included Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Mt. Vernon, Hartford and New York.  The homes of Mike and Karen Shaughnessy and Adrian and Sylvia Rodriguez were made available to host this large and happy group, for which we are most thankful for the lodging, food, fellowship and hospitality.

Historian Dr. Marshall Foster accompanied the group to Washington lending his expertise to our Chrisitan heritage, imparting the sacrifices made by our forefathers for the liberties we as American have today.  Each student was impacted by the hardships suffered during the birth of our nation and it’s struggle for religious freedom.

Please read below the account of the trip in detail.

Trip Details:

This year's Junior/Senior trip marks a new era with the addition of an America's Founding history tour. More than 30 students and adults began in Washington DC with 4 fact-packed days of Memorials, monuments, sites and of course the working homes of our Constitutional Republic: the Capitol, Supreme Court, and White House. We were led by our favorite historians, Pastor Rob Scribner and Dr. Marshall Foster. We also partnered with one of our Tucson pioneer churches in nearby Silver Spring, Maryland to preach and share the gospel with this beautiful, important, but also very needy area of our country. A day trip to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania gave a small, potent taste of the Civil War and was followed by a move north of the Mason-Dixon line. We also stopped in Philadelphia to stand where our Declaration of Independence was written and first read to the world and spent one whirlwind day in New York City seeing Ground Zero, the Statue of Liberty, the United Nations, and everything else we squeezed in! After these quick trips we settled in around the Boston/Salem,/Lexington area for about five days of more fact-packed touring. We again  were able to partner with a Fellowship Church to share the gospel and hold Revival services in the Salem area. This year's tour of America's founding ended with a final night in DC before catching a flight back home!
